Raw, French romance meets cool Nordic simplicity

Seen on Emmas designblogg: this extreme monochrome apartment via BoBedre.

Stylist Ingeborg Wolf and her boyfriend Claus Larsen's live in this very international apartment in central Copenhagen.  Everything is kept in black, white and gray with materials such as wood, iron and leather. The owners are inspired by the fashion designer Rick Owens' dramatic avant-garde design, click here.  It's amazing that you really cannot find any colors in their home...

Enjoy!

DIY cushion inspired by Fine Little Day

Inspired by the cushion Gran from Fine Little Day that I bought a few months ago for my youngest girl Eva, I made a cushion with just one tree with black textile paint. Here the result and a view in her room. I'm looking for a bigger bed right now. Eva turns 3 just before Christmas and she's definitely ready for a 'grown up' bed. I'm thinking about something practical like Brimnes from Ikea, because she has the smallest room. I couldn't resist the thonet chair that I found at the thrift shop. I like to keep it this way : brown, to add a touch of cozy warmness in the room !

My Piet Hein Eek cupboard - the result 101karakters #5

Let me show you my cupboard. Inspired by this moodboard I made: Perfect Imperfection (you can see it here).
This upcoming Saturday my cupboard and I are invited to the workspace of Piet Hein Eek in Eindhoven, where I will enjoy a guided tour and lunch and where the winners are going to paint their cupboard with help of the Histor paint specialists. Of course I will tell you all about it!
You can find the program of this day here. I'm so looking forward to this day and I would love to see all other creative ideas coming to reality and meet the people I know via blogs, Instagram and Pinterest.

Cross - Quip & Co, Ball - Hay, Zoo Magazine, felt basket - Hema, lamp - thrift find, chair - thrift find

My 'Perfect Imperfection' cupboard - the making of

Step 1 I have sanded it first completely
Step 2 Then dusted
Step 3 Degreased with ammonia
Step 4 Cleaned with water
Step 5 Now the primer on it. I used white primer except for the top of the cupboard ( inside ) and the bottom inside. For this I used the gray primer. I have not taped it, but you can of course if you don't have a steady hand. I also haven 't painted all edges of plywood and the tough nuts and bolts, because I think these are just beautiful details! All corners and edges I have done with a small brush and the rest with a paint roller
Step 6 Repeat steps 1 , 2 , 3 and 4
Step 7 Now comes the fun part : the finish ! I started by using the Histor perfect finish satin white on all parts that are painted with the white primer. When the paint was dry, I flipped the cupboard and painted the inside top black. The inside of the bottom I painted with beautiful gray paint MUS
Step 8 Again light sanding and dust
Step 9 A second layer on it ( repeat step 7 ). This was especially necessary for the dark paint
Step 10 How I made the dripping effect? It is so nice to work with acrylic paint : I used the acrylic-based primer of Histor. Advantages : you don't have a huge paint smell in the house, it dries quickly and it's so easy to get of your hands afterwards. I can highly recommend it! To get the dripping effect I diluted the black satin paint with quite some water. If you put enough paint on your brush, you will get drips easily. In doubt, you can test it before on a piece of rest wood
Step 11 The text 'I feel peace in the rain' I made with 'typewriter' alphabet stamps. Put just a little bit of paint on the stamp and stamp it!
Step 12 Finally I added a tough industrial detail, these are the two brass solder wire fittings as handles: for sale at a hardware store

& Finished!

Thanks for all your sweet words!

My moodboard Perfect Imperfection - 101karakters #3

This week I've received the paint from Histor. I've started my painting adventure this weekend and I will share it with you in my following post about the 101karakters challenge.

As promised in my latest post here, I want to show you my moodboard and inspiration to paint the cupboard from Piet Hein Eek.

My inspiration comes from nature, interior & styling and fashion. Like the black and white painted wall by stylist Lotta Agaton, Normann Copenhagen vases and beautiful photos from nature and fashion. The first collage is the moodboard that I've send to Desiree from the blog Vosgesparis. You can see it here.

Beautiful black and white graphic designs by Jurianne Matter

When I was at the woonbeurs I bought a beautiful black & white paper flowers kit in the vtwonenshop. You can make a bouquet of flowers or a garland with it.

Talented Dutch designer Jurianne Matter has designed four DIY kits for the vtwonen Home collection. You can buy them as DIY kit, you just need to fold it at put the wire through the holes. I can tell you that it was difficult to chose between the 4 kits. You can buy a living garland, paper flowers, a lantern and autumn leaves... and of course make a combination of two or more!

These are my instagram pics (2 of them) for the instagram challenge of vtwonen: you have to post them with the tag #vtwonenlovespaper. You just have to make an instagram pic with one (or more) of these beautiful kits. If you want to see all instagram photos with this tag click here: #vtwonenlovespaper.

I styled my trolley with the paper flowers, the paper pulp vase is from Serax, the vintage labo glass is a thrift find, candle holder Hay, the photo is from the Dutch Vogue Oct 13: love this large bonnet! I stole the great idea with the bonnet at the blog of Henny: & een toefje kleur, here. This candle is spray painted and can not be lighted, but I saw a simple beautiful dip dye DIY for candles at Pascale's blog Indruk here. I'm going to try this for sure!

Do you have Jurianne Matter items in your house?

    Scandinavian country chic

I'm totally in love with this house. I just saw it on the blog of Design Sponge. I love it all:
black & white & wood: what a great combination. This country style home has a beautiful Scandinavian feeling and I love all the rugs and anthers. I'm also liking the diner chairs: I'm so happy that my mother gives me two of her Pastoe chairs #luckyme :)
I'm not blogging as often as I want, because I'm very busy at this moment with all kind of things at home and working on our room & kids rooms, painting furniture and walls etc. etc. I hope to show you more about that soon :) Further on I'm taking care of my 3 sweeties who have all the flu.... :( Luckily Jorgen is feeling a little bit better as from today.
Are you going to the Woonbeurs??? I'm so looking forward to go to the Woonbeurs this week. I'm going on Saturday, because that's the only day I've time. I want to combine it with the Merci pop up store (check it here on Amsterdam Next) and maybe the new Hay store in Amsterdam... Are you going or did you go??? I already saw some amazing photos on instagram of vtwonen... I can't wait!!!

You can also follow me on instagram & facebook for more interior inspiration.

    Warm & Furry

At this moment it's cold and wet over here. It's the perfect time to decorate my home with furry things.

I love the combination of these white walls, black & white combined with wood, neutral colors and materials, inspirational black & white fashion photos with these beautiful warm furry rugs & cushions in these photos.

Check out these beautiful sheep rugs in the wonderful shop La Maison d'Anna G. here.

I've already a sheep rug, but I'm looking for some more rugs & soft pillows. I think it looks perfect when it's getting cold outside.
