Golden delicious DIY

Yesterday I went to the thrift shop and I found this beautiful vintage marbled vase with a glimpse of gold. Together with the vase I took with me this old fashioned candle holder. With this candle holder I did an easy DIY. I spray painted it gold to make it more modern. I love to bring some golden/ brass accents in my interior now the days are getting shorter. I also spray painted the candle to get a gradient effect. I can't use it, but it looks nice. I'm going to buy some gradient candles like these ones: click here.
The photo is from the great photographer Helmut Newton. I would love to buy a poster from this one (check out the other beautiful posters, like the beautiful posters of Anton Corbijn they sell). Unfortunately they do not ship to the Netherlands: time to plan a city trip to Stockholm...

For a few weeks already I have a large bag of concrete at home, but I haven't found time yet to do something with it. I would love to make this diamond of concrete made by Jennifer Hagler from A merry Mishap (blog tip): check it out here (it's with a template).
I'm going to enjoy this sunny weekend and maybe pay a visit to the forest with our girls. Wishing you a wonderful weekend! -XO-

#Summerlove

I'm so enjoying this beautiful weather and free time with my girls and making some small changes (painting etc.) in our house. More about that after my holiday!

In two and a half week we will go to Les Sables d'Olonne in the Vendee, France. That makes me so happy: I'm longing to feel the salty sea and sand on my body...

On instagram you can follow me day by day: let's meet there!

DIY with Black and White and Copper

Inspired by a great photo I saw at vtwonen from a cloth rack (check it out here) I went to Ikea to buy this cloth rack MULIG. It's perfect, because this one is not too big for my room.

These are the easy DIY's I did to create this black and white look with copper:

1) I partially painted the Ikea cloth rack with copper paint
2) I upcycled an old orange portable lamp with copper paint, new white wire, and white paint
3) I made a cross on black card board with copper paint
4) I made a chalk board out of MDF
5) I painted a very large wicket basket that I found at a thrift shop for € 3,00 back and white (stripes)
6) I decorated the rice paper lamp from Ikea with masking tape
7) I painted my replica thonet chairs white

The beautiful black and white cards with prints and words that I used are from harten8. You can buy them here. The black and white wrapping paper and the bag are from flying tiger.

Finds

I had four great sunny days in Friesland, but it's always nice to be home again! Today I went to the thrift shop and I found some really nice things! I fell in love with the lamp on the fist pic: it's an -pretty heavy- industrial lamp.

This year I want to make some changes in Eva's and Mirte's room. Mirte wants a desk in her room and moreover a less pink 'girly' room (she turns 8 in July). I found a great lamp (pic 2) for her, a chair and a small lamp (pic 3). I also found 2 old wooden table legs (pic 4) that I liked. And I couldn't resist this vintage alarm clock. Now that I have most of the stuff, I have to find time to paint and style Mirte's room. Of course I will keep you updated.

Have a lovely weekend!
