XMAS

The countdown for Christmas has started and this weekend I'm going to decorate my home with a few simple decorations. This fir branch is the first item I found to decorate my home. I also bought a few paper stars in black, white and grey from House Doctor.

As promised I show you what I bought at Flavouriteslive (see here). Let me tell you how happy I am with my new beautiful concrete candle holder Mr Fahrenheit made by the talented Dutch designer Merel Bekking (click here to read more about Merel Bekking). It has been on my wish list for a long time and I finally bought it when I was in Amsterdam for the Flavourites event.

I also found some great items at the thrift shop: the 'disco' Christmas balls, the green chair that I will paint after Christmas and the dark green glass vintage Christmas tree foot that I love: it's hard to find and perfect for a smaller tree or branch.

For this year no big Christmas tree in our home, but some simple natural decorations with a touch of glitter. How about you? Have you decorated your home yet?

You can help me win a photo contest of Uashmama

As you might remember I won a beautiful UASHMAMA BAG at a giveaway from More than Living: you can read it here. You can see there that I made some photos of the bag.

A few days ago I saw on facebook that Le Sorelle (UASHMAMA is the trademark) organised a contest: MADE IN PAPER!

I had to send them a pic of one of their UASHMAMA products.
They have chosen the best 5 shoots and they put them on their facebook page for 5 days.

At the end of these 5 days, the shoot with the most 'likes' will win an original UASHMAMA Manu Bag!

My photo is one of the 5 (how great is that) and I definitely need more LIKES! You just have to like my photo, if you want to help me win! Thanks in advance!

Click here to LIKE my photo! Mine is the photo with the black UASHMAMA bag.

Let me share with you these lovely photos of the bags from MOES & GRIET who is also wholesaler of UASHMAMA in the Benelux.

UASHMAMA: English? Australian? American?  Japanese? No, it’s Italian!
Born in an Italian family-run company ‘Le sorelle’  (four sisters), it should bring back to your mind the image of the ‘mamma’ washing clothes for their children. Their mother dedicated the name of the stores to them…they wanted to dedicate something to her: UASHMAMA.

UASHMAMA paper bags (pronounced Wash Mama) feel like leather, wash like fabric and flatten for easy storage. All UASHMAMA bags are designed and made in Tuscany (Italy) and are available in different colors and sizes. I'm so in love with these products!

Happy weekend to you and thank you if you like my photo on facebook here!

DIY & Go Green!

Yesterday I took these green paint samples at a shop (oops). I was a little embarrassed, but I wanted to use them to make this green mood board :) With handwritten paint samples, masking tape and inspirational photos you can make great mood boards. Of course I did it with green colors. See my other post: 50 shades of green.

I don't have much green in my house, but since a while I have some mini plants in a green house. I did an easy DIY with these terracotta pots today. I made them look older. Like they have been in my garden for a while. You can paint them with white acrylic paint and water.

In our house the main colors are black, white and grey with a touch of color. Not so much green for me...

But I l do love the Go Green trend like this: urban farming and plants and flowers in your interior.
I'm doing some urban farming myself: trying to grow radish, carrots, cucumber, tomatoes, strawberries, lots of herbs, lettuce, blackberry, fig, grapes and artichoke in my garden. It's great to do with children too :) .  If you want to read more about urban farming: you should check out this blog post of Zilverblauw about her Urban Garden. I love her beautiful blog, photos and style.

Do you have green in your house or do you grow your own fruit & vegetables? I would love to hear your comments!

I want to wish you a nice weekend, because I'm going to enjoy the beautiful weather today!

50 Shades of Green

As from today the June issue of vtwonen is in store. Filled with the fashion color of 2013: 50 shades of green.
Do you love green? ! vtwonen has a challenge: place before June 24 your photo on Instagram with the hash tag # vtwonengroen. The best 10 Instagram photo entries will be printed at Printstagr.am  and will be published at vtwonen.nl.
I already saw a great blog post from Coos-je about it: I love her photo! Check here to see it. Also it looks like Suzanne from the blog &SUUS had a vision, because she made some beautiful photos in 50 shades of green with the new vtwonen magazine before the challenge started: click here to see it.

I love it! I'm in! Check here the conditions if you want to join this challenge.

Six weeks ago I cut a Branch of my fig tree from my garden and put it on water. I'm happy to show you that it works. My branch has roots now and tomorrow I will plant it in my garden. I found this vintage Industrial metal chair for only € 2.50 at the thrift shop last week that you can see on my photo. A touch of blue ;) I couldn't resist it!

Happy Week!

Holiday in your own garden

Wouldn't you love to have an orangery like this? I love the large windows on tree sides and the bright black and white interior with all these lovely plants! It also makes me want to enjoy my own hammoch 'Fatboy Headdemock' again (the same that you can see on the first photo).  The family's house is located only 10 meters from the orangery on Rödön in Jämtland.

Shopping time: De Agave in the Netherlands

Today I went to De Agave in Beneden Leeuwen: I really like to go there to buy some beautiful flowers, plants or accessories: it's a very beautiful inspiring shop and it's only 15 minutes away from where I live. I love the fact that it's an industrial building and they always do such a wonderful job in styling the place.

You can buy the most beautiful flowers, plants, furniture for the home & garden and they have great accessories. They also have a small restaurant where you can enjoy a high tea, tapas or eat a sandwich, salad or soup. Unfortunately the battery of my camera was empty when I went, so I took these photos with my iPhone. Photo 1 & 10 are from their own website: click here so see their website.

I hope you like it as much as I do!

Go green in my home

Yesterday I was so fed up with the winter and the rain that I decided to bring more green in the house. It's a big trend at this moment and I'm glad, because it's now cheering up my living and therefore my mood! As promised I made some pics of a few the vintage finds from last week. More will follow... This morning I saw really big snow flakes falling down. This afternoon the sun finally break threw as you can see on the pics...
Tomorrow I'm hoping to take photos in the home of Jörgen's uncle and aunt. They have a beautiful interior. I will of course share this with you soon...
my dining: I've painted the inside of the lamp & cable vintage blue
I found this vintage camera at the second hand shop
I think it goes well with my boots and lovely Cowboybelt bag
roses and blossom in my new old jars I found in the second hand store
the table is made of teak
an old apple crate with cactus plants and the antique French mirror I bought at the antique market in Lille (France) I can strongly recommend this market: it's the biggest in Europe
and it's a pleasure to be there. Lille is a beautiful city. I've studied there for 6 months.
The market takes place in the center of the city once a year and has a great atmosphere:
on every corner you can eat 'moules frites'. This year the market takes place on the 31th of August and the 1st of September
The 2 lamp shades you can see I found in the second hand store (I ripped of the fabric)
I've put the plants in cans (for beans) and decorated them with black & white tape
a few months ago I spray painted this tray with copper spray
I like it with the 'bambino' plants
don't you think this green goes well with copper...

these are the same plants as in the previous picture: don't you love these mini plants?
They are in my Ikea greenhouse now...

Green in a box

I absolutely love love Christmas and spend a lot of time to create a cosy original new style at home each year, but I always enjoy the moment that I can store all Christmas stuff on my attic again. As a new year starts, I really want to make some 'small' changes in my home styling. This year I bought some flower bulbs to create a 'spring feeling' in my house and I displayed them in my new IKEA greenhouse.
